What is the point of life?
What happens when we die?
What relevance does Jesus have today?
How do we deal with guilt?
How can we make sense of the world we live in?
If you would like to explore any of these questions then Alpha is for you
What is Alpha?
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith. People of all ages are welcome.
Laughter and learning—we can have fun as we learn about faith and what difference it makes to the way we live life.
Pasta—or in this case, maybe not, but at least there will be some food to eat.
Helping one another. In the context of a small group, we can discuss and help each other discover real and revolutionary truth.
Anything you ask will be taken seriously, so ask away.
Who is Alpha for?
Alpha is for everyone! It is particularly designed for people interested in investigating Christianity, newcomers to the church, new Christians and those who want to brush up on the basics.
What happens at Alpha?
Those on the course meet usually weekly on an evening that suits everyone. Everyone eats together and then there is video to introdcue the subject followed by an informal discussion.
We’ll try to follow the following subject matter:
Week 1 Taster to find out what Alpha's about
Week 2 Who is Jesus?
Week 3 Why did Jesus die?
Week 4 How can I be sure?
Week 5 Why read the Bible?
Week 6 Why pray?
Week 7 Does God guide?
Week 8 What about the church?
Week 9 How can I resist evil?
Week 10 How can I make the most of my life?
The course will include one Saturday at a venue close to Chippenham. As well as some time spent sharing a meal or two, we will look at the following subjects:
Who is the Holy Spirit?
What does the Holy Spirit do?
How can I be filled with the Holy Spirit?
Does God still heal today?
What will it cost?
There is no charge for the Alpha course. There will be a charge for the awayday—details to be supplied during the course.
