David Sandberg

David SandbergHi, I was born in 1971 and married to Sue. We have three wonderful children, two daughters Isabella and Sophie and a son Toby.

I was born in Brazil and lived there for the first 8 years of my life. My parents were English missionaries working with an indeginous people group in the Amazon jungle. During this time when life seemed rawer, and at times was more dangerous, I came to know Jesus as my friend and that relationship has been the foundation of my life since.

In my mid teens when considering what I wanted to do with my life I really felt I should remain in the UK. During my time at university I spent a year working in Wiltshire and it is somewhere that I have a heart for and long to see transformed by the love of God.

On leaving university I worked for thirteen years in the automotive industry in places as far afield as Florida and Germany. In 1997 I got a job based in Wiltshire and have lived here ever since. Sue and I joined Dayspring, getting married a year later. It has been a journey to reach this point, but in 2005 I started working full time for Dayspring.

MY main responsibility is leading Open Blue, a charity founded by Dayspring that provides opportunity to people who are excluded because of their rural location.  In the church I contribute to Sunday youth activities and lead the team that handles the practicalities of our Sunday events.  I also look after church finances and safeguarding.

We the church and I are still learning the best ways to reach people and help them on their personal journeys to God.

Other interests include cars and sport. I enjoy the antics of Top Gear and watching most sports especially football following Liverpool and Brazil. I have recently started playing golf; finding it enjoyable and frustrating in equal measure. When I have the time, I like nothing better than to curl up with a good book.

My ideal alternative life would be a professional footballer helping Brazil win the world cup.
